This is a fascinating Victorian feature of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which details the history of lime production in the area and includes various ruined structures, such as the Hoffmann Kiln from 1873. This is regarded as the best preserved example of this building in England and was operational until 1931. The site was constructed next to the Settle-Carlisle railway for ease of transportation and now houses a modern business park and archaeology trail at the base of Stainforth Scar.
