Hundafoss in Iceland

Most walkers leave Skaftafell aiming at Svartifoss, but the trail offers an earlier surprise. Hundafoss drops through Bæjargil in a narrow, green-sided gorge, giving the uphill approach a quieter prelude before the main waterfall’s basalt-column setting. Its smaller scale is part of the charm. Summer foliage can partly hide the first angle, while a clearer side view makes the slender fall and dark gorge easier to read.
