Publix is closing stores: See an updated list of shuttered locations for 2026

Publix has closed a number of locations this year, but the brand appears to be growing its overall footprint. Most recently, the southeastern U.S. supermarket chain has permanently shuttered its location in Florida’s Palm Bay Center. According to Florida Today, the closure is due to a planned redevelopment project, which will demolish the existing building and create a new Publix store. The original store had operated for almost 50 years and shut its doors at the close of business on Saturday, July 11.
