Tamil Nadu school holiday update 2026: Schools and colleges to remain closed on July 28 and August 3

Tamil Nadu students in Tenkasi and Namakkal districts will receive local holidays on July 28 and August 3, 2026, due to regional festivals. Tenkasi has declared a holiday for the Sankarankovil Aadi Thapasu festival, which attracts lakhs of devotees, while Namakkal has announced a holiday for Valvil Orivizha. August 3 also coincides with Aadi Perukku celebrations, a monsoon festival associated with rivers, water resources and agricultural prosperity.
